Maurice B. Furlong, MD

Maurice B. Furlong, MDAs chief pathologist for Mercy since 1992, Dr. Furlong participates actively in the care of breast disease and breast cancer patients. Educated at Fordham University and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Furlong completed his residency in anatomical pathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and in clinical pathology at the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center.

Dr. Furlong has held a number of academic appointments at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, The George Washington University, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Furlong served in the United States Navy Reserves as the Lieutenant Commander of the Medical Corps.

Dr. Furlong is a member of such professional societies as the American Medical Association, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He has published in many prestigious medical journals and has made a number of presentations on topics relevant to pathology.
